What do dance applicants need to prepare for the audition?

Applicants must prepare a 1 minute dance solo. Your solo is a chance to show us your skills and abilities in your strongest genre of dance.

Things we are looking for in a solo:

  • Execution/Precision

  • Performance/Expression

  • Ability in chosen genre

  • Variety (a mix of technical and non-technical elements)

  • Your solo should be no longer than 1 minute

  • You are encouraged to create your own solo but studio solos are acceptable.

  • Be sure to have music on a USB or device with auxillary or blue tooth capabilities.

  • We want to get to know YOU.

  • Show us through any evidence what you have been involved with in your life.

  • These interests can be from anywhere, not just the arts!

  • Consider: awards, certificates, report cards, pictures, activities outside of school like athletics, family events and community groups, etc.
